Built for the Hudson's Bay Company for the fur trade & armed with a respectful canon. She sailed from England in 1835 and when she arrived on the Pacific coast she was the first and for some time the only steam vestal here. The Beaver was the state of the art in steamships in 1835. Built to last, she worked very hard to her last days as just an other old tug. She ended her days at the foot of Prospect point Stanley Park. At very low tides you can still see remnants of here teak bones...
